The Jantzen Diving Girl is a symbol of the evolution of the swimsuit. Debuted in 1920, the diving girl you see today first made its appearance in Daytona Beach in the 1960s. For generations, she sat above Ocean Avenue on Stamie’s Smart Beachwear shop and became an icon for Daytona Beach. After the beach shop closed, the mannequin, one of only four still in existence, was moved to Washington State. The community, however, led the call to have her return home, to Daytona Beach. ONE DAYTONA offered her a permanent home. In 2018, after a bit of restoration, the Jantzen Diving Girl was installed above the splash pad in Victory Circle in ONE DAYTONA.
