Artists may begin painting on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 3PM and must be complete by Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 3PM. Awards will be announced on the stage in Victory Circle at ONE DAYTONA on Sunday, April 6, 2025 around 4:30PM.

Artist Statement: My work documents evidence of human interactions in man-made environments through first-hand observation. This data is compiled to pollinate and present diverse techniques of expression including participatory installation, voyeuristic sound and documentation through paintings and other art objects.

Bradley Moody, Chair, MCCMEA – School of Digital Media Production and Associate Professor at Daytona State College, Digital and Interactive Media Production
Artist Bio: Brad Moody received his M.F.A in Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and his B.S in Art Education from Skidmore College. Brad spent 10 years in industry working as an Interactive Designer, Broadcast Designer, Advertising Designer, Art Director and Associate Broadcast Producer. Brad has worked solely in Higher Education for the past 12 years teaching all aspects of digital media courses including but not limited to, video, sound, interactive, performance, graphic design and photography. Brad has presented on numerous occasions regarding digital media and technology integration in higher education. Brad has been involved in industry juried service with Adobe, PromaxBDA, ISEA and belongs to a variety of associations such as, Broadcast Design Association (PromaxBDA), The Society for Electro-Acoustic Music, AIGA, American Institute of Graphic Arts and the International Society for Technology in Education. 

Roberto Lugo
Artist Bio: ceramicist, artist, social activist. Roberto Lugo is a Philadelphia-based artist, ceramicist, social activist, poet, and educator. Lugo utilizes classical pottery forms in conjunction with portraiture and surface design reminiscent of his North Philadelphia upbringing and Hip Hop culture to highlight themes of poverty, inequality, and racial injustice. Lugo’s works utilize traditional European and Asian ceramic techniques reimagined with a 21st-century street sensibility. Their hand-painted surfaces feature classic decorative patterns and motifs combined with elements of modern urban graffiti and portraits of individuals whose faces are historically absent on this type of luxury item - people like Sojourner Truth, Dr. Cornel West, and The Notorious BIG, as well as Lugo’s family members and, very often, himself. Lugo holds a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from Penn State. His work has been featured in exhibitions at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, among others. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including a 2023 Heinz Award, a Philadelphia’s Cultural Treasures award, a 2019 Pew Fellowship, a Cynthia Hazen Polsky and Leon Polsky Rome Prize, and a US Artist Award. His work is found in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The High Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Brooklyn Museum, the Walters Art Museum, and more. 


ARTISTS

Tiff Urquhart

Tiff Urquhart is a Contemporary Artist based on the East Coast where she is concentrated on environmental and social activism. Growing up in Florida, Tiff has practiced in the field of visual arts since childhood with inspiration stemming from the unique surrounding of natural landscape. Tiff attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Fine Art. Urquhart's achievements include hundreds of commission pieces across the country including working with clients such as Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Int'l Airport, Mural Arts Philadelphia, West Elm, VisitPhilly, and several local businesses. While in high school, Urquhart's works were on display in the US Capitol Building in Washington DC. Urquhart is currently focusing on street art and art activism within the surrounding community, while looking forward to advancing and expanding her art career. 

Steven Belisle (aka East Mental)
Steven Belisle is known as East Mental. A local of Flagler Beach is work can be seen in public places such as the Funky Pelican chalkboard, European Village in Palm Coast or in a collector’s beach house. Known for his iconic Florida subjects, East is a true street artist, favoring spray paint as his media of choice.

Tracie Harris Thompson - FIRST PLACE WINNER for 2024
For Tracie Harris Thompson, to see is to be inspired. The diverse scope of subject and style in her body of work belies the myriad observations she’s made on her journeys as a flight attendant. While a Visual Arts major at Florida State University, Tracie focused on drawing, painting, and printmaking. Vividly realistic with a whimsical twist, her works carry with them the influences Tracie has gathered from around the world. A Jacksonville native, Tracie now enjoys painting from her home studio there, where she works on commissions and private pieces of art. She specializes in watercolor on paper, acrylics on canvas, decorative arts (acrylic on furniture), and large-scale murals.

Natasha Azari
Founder of Save the Arts Movement, LLC, Azari’s work can be seen on public and private walls throughout the county. For this mural, the artist has decided to involve the audience and make it a community mural. Lend a hand in creating a masterpiece! Azari will help guide spectators to painting their own section of the mural, truly creating a community mural.

Angel Lowden
Angel Lowden, an artist from Central Florida, has over 30 years of experience and is known for her whimsical and fantastical style. Her unique expression can be found in her studio, artistic finishes in homes throughout Central Florida, and beautiful murals in businesses throughout the United States. Angel also creates immersive environments for laser-tag arenas and escape rooms using UV paints. Her studio, The Studio by Artist Angel Lowden, is located in Ormond Beach, Florida, and is filled vintage and handmade items from all over the world in addition to Angel's paintings and fashion line. She is also highly involved in the community by serving on the board of the Ormond Beach Arts District

Eliza Midgett
Eliza Midgett’s paintings are a celebration of color, joy, and imagination, offering a surreal escape into vibrant, whimsical worlds. Specializing in acrylics on canvas, she often incorporates cut paper and mixed media to create her signature “Unconventional Colorscapes.” Her work transforms the beach environment she grew up in, blending reality with dreamlike elements and saturating each piece with bold, tropical hues. Each painting is a playful yet introspective space, balancing the real with the impossible. Her imaginative landscapes, filled with unexpected color harmonies, abstracted shapes, and undulating lines, spark joy while exploring themes of longing and wonder—much like a merry-go-round you can’t quite get on or off. Today, Eliza works from her studio at The Hub in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she paints, teaches, and engages in community outreach. She has exhibited her award-winning work in Florida, Virginia, and Hawaii, placing her work in juried shows and gaining recognition for her distinctive style. Eliza has also painted murals for local businesses, and designed two shark statues for the City of New Smyrna Beach. Eliza also collaborates with organizations like the Boys & Girls Club to bring professional artists into public schools and inspire young creators. Through her art, Eliza paints a vibrant world of color that sparks joy and ignites the imagination. Her boundless creativity invites viewers to smile and uncover the secret stories woven into every piece.
